Steve Marsden was the guitarist for No Hope In New Jersey. After gaining extensive exposure on Zane Lowe’s 'BBC Radio 1 Show' and MTV’s 'Spanking New Music Week (2004)', No Hope In New Jersey secured a record deal with Atlantic Records UK

No Hope In New Jersey's debut album, Steady Diet of Decline (2005) was produced by Foo Fighters, Therapy? and Skunk Anansie producer and mixer Chris Sheldon.

The 11-track album was recorded at Jacob’s Studio in Farnham, with mixing of the record taking place at Eden Studios in West London. Mastering took place at Abbey Road.
